You may have had a dog at some point in your life (or have one now) that sat around the television set while you were watching your shows, and almost seemed interested in what was going on. The idea of this obviously sounds really weird, as it’d be hard to believe that the dog was actually watching your TV with you. Could this possibly be true? Do dogs like to watch TV? Or is it merely a coincidence as they’re hanging out with you and mirroring your actions?
Without having any scientific basis to answer this question, I can tell you from firsthand experience that I have a German Shepherd now who sits by the television set and watches it with me any time I’m watching. What I’ve realized is that not only does she love to watch TV, but if I leave the room, my German Shepherd is still watching whatever has been on.
Adding to the strangeness of it all is the fact that there are certain shows she seems to like more than others. If I change the channel anytime I’m watching American Idol, she’ll always show her disapproval. Maybe the dogs are amused by the singing and music?
Whatever it is, I’m convinced that my German Shepherd is a television lover. I’m sure there are tons of other television loving dogs in the world out there too. If you’ve experienced the same thing with yourself, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. It’s a pretty amusing thing, isn’t it?
